Tentative Agreement Reached on Healthcare Benefits

We’ve reached a Tentative Agreement on Healthcare Benefits between LAUSD and all eight unions at the District.

A 3-year tentative agreement will be voted on by all LAUSD employee unions in coming weeks. Stay tuned for more information on the ratification vote.

With union members standing united against any healthcare cuts, a Tentative Agreement was reached on January 18, 2017 between the District and all eight employee unions, including SEIU Local 99, UTLA, Administrators, School Police, CSEA, Building Trades and Teamsters.

The agreement includes:

  • A 3-year healthcare agreement for eligible employees and retirees
  • Preservation of all current healthcare plans, at no additional costs to members
  • No two-tier system with lower benefits for new employees
  • A guaranteed reserve to help pay for cost increases beyond 2020

Together in our union, we were able to beat back cuts to our health care benefits, including protecting health care for our families. As parents whose children attend LAUSD schools, we know this agreement is good for thousands of students who will continue to receive quality and affordable care. As employees who are mostly women and people of color, the agreement is a strong step to continue to ensure healthy schools and good jobs in our communities.

Now, let’s keep fighting to expand benefits to more members and ensure a strong contract.

United we win!
