Tentative Agreement Reached on Healthcare Benefits: Time to Vote

Together in our union, we were able to beat back the district’s proposed cuts to our health care benefits and protected health care for our families. On January 18, SEIU Local 99—along with the other unions at LAUSD—reached a 3-year Tentative Agreement on Healthcare Benefits.

Highlights of the Agreement

  • We protected all current healthcare plans, at no additional costs to members
  • A 3-year healthcare agreement for eligible employees and retirees
  • No two-tier system with lower benefits for new employees
  • A guaranteed reserve to help pay for cost increases beyond 2020

As parents whose children attend LAUSD schools, we know this agreement is good for thousands of students who will continue to receive quality and affordable care. As employees who are mostly women and people of color, the agreement is a strong step to continue to ensure healthy schools and good jobs in our communities.

This is not a strike vote. We must keep fighting to win a strong contract that covers our wages, working conditions, and a strong voice on the job.
