Strike Vote is On – See Where Voting is Being Held

After nearly a year of negotiations, LAUSD has not made any significant movement to improve our wages and staffing for student services.

To hold the District accountable, our Bargaining Team is asking us—the membership of SEIU Local 99—for the authority to call for a lawful strike should the district continue to bargain in bad faith and continue to present proposals that disrespect the value we bring to the District.

SEIU Local 99 members must vote to authorize a lawful strike. Voting against the strike means you are satisfied with whatever LAUSD offers. Make sure your voice is heard!

Where and When to Vote?

VOTING AT YOUR WORK SITE. Voting will be taking place at select work sites across LAUSD, starting Monday, March 12 and ending Friday, March 23. Schools where voting is scheduled to take place will be posted here daily along with the time members can cast their vote.

VOTING AT THE UNION HALL. Voting will also take place at all SEIU Local 99’s offices on Saturday, March 17 from 9 am – 12 pm and Monday, March 19 through Friday, March 23 from 12 – 7 pm. These are the addresses of all three locations:

Downtown Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA 90005

Lynwood / South LA
3651 E. Imperial Hwy.
Lynwood, CA 90262

San Fernando Valley
8363 Reseda Blvd. Suite 6
Northridge, CA 91324

Tips for Voting

  • Voting will usually take place in your work site staff lounge, but that may not always be the case. Union staff, member leaders, and volunteers won’t know the exact area until they arrive. If you don’t see them in the staff lounge, ask a fellow member or email us. We’ll usually respond within 30 minutes. Don’t ask teachers, your principal, or any employees not represented by Local 99. The strike vote is our our union’s business and they wouldn’t know anything about it.
  • SEIU Local 99 will be holding voting at most work sites throughout LAUSD, but not all work sites will have voting. If you don’t see your school on the vote schedule, Local 99’s offices in Downtown LA, Lynwood, and Reseda will be open for voting starting Monday, March 19-23 from 12-7pm. See the addresses on this page.
  • If you see your school listed in the vote schedule, but don’t see a voting date and time, check back. Dates and times are being confirmed on a day-to-day basis.
  • Arrive before voting closes. Personnel staffing the voting are under a tight schedule and will be leaving as soon as voting ends at a work site. If you aren’t able to cast your vote at your school, you can still vote at Local 99’s offices.
  • If you feel that a supervisor or principal might be interfering with voting in any way—for example, trying to dissuade you or your co-workers from voting—report it on our Inquiry Form.
