The Senate Appropriations Committee is set to vote on AB 621, the Summer Bridge for School Workers bill, by this Thursday, August 31.
Like our summer unemployment bill from last year (AB 2197), AB 621 has a very good chance of getting to the governor’s desk.
But, that doesn’t mean we can sit back. Remember, Governor Brown vetoed the AB 2197 last year. We need to show him and legislators in the Senate how much this matters to us. They need to know we’re paying attention and that the decision they make on AB 621 directly impacts our livelihoods.
Send committee members a petition letter by Thursday urging them to bring economic justice and end the cruel summer for over 300,000 classified school employees in California.
Update: AB 621 has cleared the Senate Appropriations Committee! Read more.
