LAUSD Board Ratifies Our Contract. We did it!

The LAUSD School Board ratified our contract on June 12. A majority of the board members clearly understand that it takes teamwork to put our kids first and voted in favor of the agreement. Only Nick Melvoin objected. While Melvoin said he recognized our hard work, his objection demonstrates that he does not understand the [...]

Members Vote Overwhelmingly To Ratify New Contract with LAUSD

Members have cast their ballots. The votes are counted and an overwhelming 97% of voters approved the new 3-year contract with LAUSD. We should all be proud of the hard work we did to win this contract. We negotiated for over a year with LAUSD and they would not budge off a one-time 2% increase [...]

After a long bargaining session on Friday, May 4, the District gave us their last, best, and final offer. While there was some movement, the District’s “best” just isn’t good enough. LAUSD Increases Wage Offer – it’s not enough. Let’s keep up the pressure with Strike Vote!

At our bargaining session on April 5, LAUSD increased their wage proposal to 3%, retroactive to July 2017. This includes a 1% ongoing wage increase that incorporates extra work and/or training starting in the 2018-19 school year. It’s a step in the right direction - but it’s still not enough. The District had been stuck [...]

On Wages: District Disappoints Again – Time to Turn Up the Heat

Our Bargaining Team met with the District on September 27. LAUSD’s negotiator had promised to come back with a “generous” wage proposal. So what did they offer? LAUSD continued to stick to their one-time 2% raise and now they added a 1% one-time bonus. They call this generous? The school board just got a 174% [...]
